Pregnancy Update: 14 Weeks

14 weeks.JPG

Happy Monday! I am excited to share this week's update but first, I wanted to thank everyone so much for your excitement, encouragement to write these posts, and messages about them. We are so excited are family is growing and one of the main reasons is because we feel so supported by friends and family. So, thank you!

I am not sure if people really know but my youngest sister Claire is pregnant and is due in just a few weeks! We celebrated her this past weekend at a lovely baby shower hosted by our family friends. Claire is twenty weeks ahead of me and is 34 weeks today and due May 27! Claire is a more private person than me so she hasn't shared too much about her pregnancy. Meanwhile, I share everything from how many pounds I've gained. Lol. I'll share for Claire so everyone can feel up to speed.

Claire has had a great pregnancy, really easy and is just entering the final stretch! With two older sisters who have children, Claire was able to learn a lot through our experiences. She was even in the room with me and my other sisters when I gave birth to Lillian. But Claire is also very knowledgable through her own interest in pregnancy and labor. She's read all the books and is definitely more prepared than I was!  Claire will be a fabulous mom and I know, will have an amazing labor experience. It was so exciting to find out that she and her husband are having a boy! They did a big gender reveal by swinging a golf club and blue smoke filled the sky.

It also has been so awesome to be an ear for Claire and share some of the things I wish I had done my first pregnancy. And while we've technically been pregnant at the same time, it doesn't really feel like it because we haven't really had bumps at the same time. Not sure if that makes sense, but I feel like there isn't that much overlap. But that's particularly funny because when our babies are twenty weeks apart they will feel so close in age. But they won't be in the same class! Isn't that funny.

14 Weeks update

You can see all of my pregnancy updates with Lillian here.

Baby is the size of: A peach!

Due Date: October 18

Cravings: Still nothing like a cold bottle of water. I am not craving these things but I find them incredibly satisfying: orange juice, cheese and crackers, and an Iced Chai from Starbucks.

I hate to say it but my body is wanting to drink caffeine. I am tired! At 2pm I could fall asleep anywhere. In April 2014 I stopped drinking caffeine because I thought it would be a good idea to give it up. For that first week I was a zombie, but also it was the first week I started this blog and so I had that can't sleep, work all night energy that fueled me. I didn't drink any caffeine during my first pregnancy and rarely drank it afterward. Towards the end of 2017 I started having a decaf mocha (hold on, does anyone care about this? Okay, I write for myself anyway) as a treat. The decaf mocha from illy on Union Street in Equinox is the BEST coffee I have EVER HAD!!! I've had two decaf mochas since I was pregnant and actually don't feel guilty about it. Ha. I justified it by saying oh the placenta hasn't attached yet. But the other day I needed a pick me up so I had an iced chai and it was SO good. But moving forward I am not going to have coffee, even decaf.

Complaints: Zero complaints! Ha, I just wish my house would clean itself! Lillian makes such a mess sometimes! When I was pregnant last time, our house was spotless! Now it's like an Amazon warehouse- boxes everywhere! Oh, I guess the other thing would be that I don't looovvee my prenatal vitamins. I bought some gummy ones and those are a little better but every vitamin seems to upset my stomach a little bit.

Common symptoms: Around this time is when most women who had morning sickness feel better. Luckily, I never had morning sickness or fatigue so I still physically feel great. Oh, I mentioned this last week but I definitely feel like I am bigger everywhere already. My chest and stomach have grown so much.

Weight Gain: 4lbs

Pregnancy Comparison: I am definitely bigger this time around and I think people have suspected I am pregnant because when I say we are expecting they are like yeah, you look bigger. Oh, this is exciting. On May 18th we find out the sex at our ultrasound but we are going to have the technician put the information in an envelope and then have a gender reveal party. And I actually think we might have a gender reveal party, wedding anniversary party, and Lillian's birthday party all rolled up into one. Not sure, but leaning towards it!

The other thing that's different this time around is that I snap a picture when I can on an iPhone. Last time I was in full-on blogger mode with the DSLR camera and Jesse and I would go and try and find a pretty background for the photos. This time I am like let's make this experience fit into our lifestyle. While the quality of images are not as great, I love that they really are a snapshot of the moment in time.

Thankful for: One of the best purchases of our entire married life has been our new King Keetsa mattress. I am so thankful that we have a comfortable and spacious bed since Lillian sometimes gets in our bed in the middle of the night. We are all sleeping better and honestly, my mood is so much happier. All of our moods are better!

We are also so thankful that Lillian is so sweet to Baby Echo! She gives the baby kisses and loves saying hello by yelling at my belly. The other day she came into the room I was in and said, "mommy, do you want to see my baby? It's moving!" And she had a stuffed animal under her dress! It was so sweet! It's because she's been watching Claire's pregnancy and has been so sweet to Claire's baby.
