PERFECT PLACE: MARMALADE.
Since I love Noe Valley so much, I rarely make it over the Marina (although this summer I have been spending more time over there). Well I am glad that I decided to venture over to Union Street earlier this week. I was popping into all of my favorite shops (Ambiance, Fillmore and 5th, Jest Jewels) when I spotted Marmalade!
I had been into Marmalade once before years ago and loved it. It is such a welcoming store with lots of perfect pieces (I can't wait to show you what I picked up!!!!). Luckily for me I was able to meet the owner, Hope. I had read about her and her husband in the Style Section of the SF Chronicle. They recently opened The Mason Jar, a gorgeous home decor store on Union Street, just a few blocks west of Marmalade.
Chatting with Hope, I felt like we had been friends forever. She is so warm, open, and authentic-- not to mention, gorgeous! You have to go check out Marmalade and introduce yourself. She shared with me the history of Marmalade and how it has been open for seven years. We instantly bonded over the Simple Gifts Fashion show, a non-profit event that my sister started and that Hope has supported since the beginning.
Hope's success with Marmalade inspired her to open up The Mason Jar. She collaborated with Pete on this new venture and it's been wildly successful. I absolutely LOVE it when married couples work together! Jesse and I always talk about starting a company together, but I know very little about construction and he knows very little about Jimmy Choos. Hope and Pete have a great working relationship and it's not hard to see why, they're both creative, brilliant, and patient.
I'll have to stop by Marmalade again today because Hope said that she is getting in a new shipment. She also told me that things go fast, so if you see something it's best to get it right away because it won't be there for long.
I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to meet Hope. Her story, passion, style, and impeccable taste make Marmalade the perfect place to shop. Meeting her I really felt like this is what it's all about-- intelligent, talented, passionate women in San Francisco. Stop by Marmalade to see Hope and pick up some perfect pieces!
