PERFECT PARTY: BANANA REPUBLIC.
Last night I had the opportunity to attend the Banana Republic "In With The New" party and get early access to all of the fall pieces. With the recent appointment of Marissa Webb as Creative Director, everyone was eager to see what she would do and which direction she would take the #sforiginal company in. You might know her from her work at J.Crew. She spent over ten years as the Head of Womenswear and Accessories Design. A few years ago she left to start her own line. It's sort of funny, it seems like she read my style and took that as the inspiration- clean, black and white, classic.
The party was a blast (it was absolutely packed), the pieces are amazing, and it was really fun to see everyone having a great time. There was one moment that I particularly enjoyed; I was walking past a group of three young women and they were shrieking with excitement and one exclaimed in pure joy to her girlfriend, "THIS IS AWESOME!!! GOOD JOB KATIE!!!!" It just really me happy because I love seeing people have a good time!
It was pretty crowded and the check out line was just as long as the line for the bar (p.s.- the rosé was a great touch, thanks BR), but I was lucky enough to pick up another Soft-Wash Oxford, it's what I have been living in all summer, and the Faux-Leather Front Crew.
// Perfect pair note: I actually didn't have a chance to look at their shoes because the photobooth was in that room and it was packed. I will say that about 1 in 3 customers was getting a pair of Supergas. They are like the Converse of Italy. They are the perfect pair when you want to be casual but still show you're a little chic. I have them in a blue and white striped pattern and my sister Claire has them in a metallic silver. I want to get the Superga x The Row pair but haven't been able to find my size! //
