PERFECT PREGNANCY: 29 WEEKS UPDATE.
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend! It's been absolutely gorgeous weather in the bay area and Jesse and I decided to sneak out of the city and get some alone time on the Sonoma Coast. I'm not sure where the last couple of weeks have gone-- it seems like just yesterday I was sharing the update that we're having a girl!
With a lot of time to ourselves, Jesse and I had the opportunity to think and talk about the big upcoming changes in our life. I'm so lucky to have a partner that is thoughtful, loving, open, and a great communicator. At one point we were laughing so hard we were in tears. We were pretending to make weird screaming noises in the delivery room. Omg, I am just laughing so hard now thinking about it!! I thought it would be hilarious to prank my family members and start screaming animal noises when I am in labor. We'll see if that happens. I kept quizzing Jesse about the first order of business when we arrive to the hospital: DRAW THE BATH! Since the hospital is brand new (it opened in early February) and is quite luxurious, I'm approaching this visit like I'm staying at my favorite hotel, the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay: I MUST take advantage of EVERY amenity, even if I don't want it!
We are taking our birthing class this Saturday and I am very excited. After finding out the sex of the baby at 20 weeks, and taking the glucose tolerance test at 27 weeks, it's been the next big milestone I've been looking forward to. And to me, it symbolizes the beginning of the end. Per the advice of our doctor, I scheduled our birthing, breastfeeding, and infant care class in December and it seemed like a lifetime until they arrived- and now, here we are! In an effort to be prepared, I have been reading a lot about delivery, watching videos online, and asking couples who have gone through it. I'm looking forward to getting some new information and having the opportunity to answer any of my questions. The class is from 9-4 so follow me on Twitter for live tweets! Ha I just wrote that because I thought it was funny to say, but now I'm thinking that might be a good idea!
This week was very different than last week's pregnancy experience (you can read my 28 weeks update here)-- I had no pain, no discomfort, and didn't feel pregnant at all. I thought that last week would be a shift for me and I would feel very pregnant for the remainder of pregnancy but I was wrong. Looking back, it seems like I've had changes about every two weeks. It probably helped that I went swimming and did a lot more weight lifting this week (something I've actually put on hold the last couple of months) and went on lots of walks. All we did this weekend was go on hikes and eat bread and cheese--yummy!!!
I am curious to see what the next few weeks have in store for me and baby Coco!! Oh I should say, I finally got some new intimates from Shopbop and GapBody! I really should have made this purchases sooner, and as a result, I think I went a little crazy!
Later this week I will be sharing some information I learned about dental care for parents and baby from my dentist appointment, as well as skin care tips for pregnant women that I learned from Ali at SkinSpirit. Stay tuned! Also, did you read about the prenatal massage I had at SenSpa last week? Check it out here!
Lots of Kicks: Oh, yes! This girl is a mover! Although, the last two weeks I have felt less kicks and just more movement. It's like she is part of the USA Dream Team doing gymnastics in there. It's funny, she seems to be on the left side wayyyy more! She'll move a lot and then settle into her comfy position with feet on my left side and her head on my right side. One thing I wish I knew and wanted to share with the other pregnant moms out there is that there are changes in movement during weeks 22 to 29 (I can only speak about up until 29 weeks). I was worried because I thought kicks should feel the same, but around 26 or 27 weeks expect less jabs and more movement.
Headaches/ lightheadedness: Knock on wood, but I haven't been having this. I've been drinking SOOOO much water so I am sure that is helping avoid headaches.
Itchy Belly: Nope, haven't had this symptom. After swimming I always have drier skin so I've been putting on lots of lotion. I like Aveeno, C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries, and Philosophy Body lotions. In the next couple of weeks I'm going to try some products specifically intended for pregnant women and will report back!
Back, leg, or pelvic pain: Not sure why, but I didn't have pain this week. Maybe it will return later?
Gotta Pee-- again! I'm pretty sure only women (and my dad) read my pregnancy updates so I feel fine sharing that sometimes I feel like my party trick is I can go to the bathroom on command. I literally can pee every five seconds. Life is like a leaky faucet, you always know that you gotta go!
Varicose Veins: Not that I've noticed.
Trouble Sleeping: No- not at all. For a second I wondered if I should be worried that I'm not having trouble. Every single thing I've read about pregnancy says that you'll have trouble sleeping. I'm wondering if I'm actually taking sleeping pills instead of my prenatal vitamins because I sleep so well. I also find it more comfortable to fall asleep on my back and then turn over on my side. Again, there I go breaking the rules by sleeping on my back!! Buttttt.... my doctor said I could sleep on my back unless I was uncomfortable or had heart palpitations.
Name Update: I get lots of texts and emails about our baby name- people are especially curious if it's going to be a hard C. Jesse and I are going to pick a name in April or May. We definitely won't go to the hospital without a name, but we probably won't share it before our baby arrives.
Childcare: We are going today to look at a potential infant care center for our baby girl. Wish us luck! Parents who have been through this before: any good questions to ask?
Maternity Style: Since I've got a bigger bump, I can't wait to share even more looks of what I'm wearing and how I'm styling the basketball! I can't wait to share some of the pieces I picked up from A Pea in the Pod the other day!
