I walk by this house in our neighborhood and there are a few things about it that always catch my eye. Maybe it's the fact that it is one of the only homes on the street that does not have curtains or maybe it's the nice Mac monitor on the desk with tons of stuffed animal around it. Lots and lots of tiny stuffed animals, like the size of Beanie Babies but they are not Beanie Babies (need to pause just to think about how much I loved Beanie Babies). Or maybe it is the constant rotation of 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper with quotes printed on it.

They had one the other day that said something like "Life is about belonging, not about belongings" and as I read it I looked down and saw my Little Miss Lillian smiling back at me. Oh my heavens, I could have just cried. Lillian is the happiest baby and truly loves life. She is so easy going and has been a dream. But the last month or so I have noticed that she is very intrigued by my closet and her closet! I know, it sounds crazy but when I am sitting in the rocker in her nursery and I put her over my shoulder I can see her turn her head and fixate her eyes on her closet!!! It makes me a little worried!

When it comes to life I can be pretty headstrong and have a hard time changing my mind. Well, leave it to LJP to stop me in my tracks. I started this blog when I was working in a high school and had to follow a conservative professional dress code. This blog was a place to dream about four inch heels and leather mini skirts. Fast forward almost two years and now I have a baby girl and life is just grand. My daydreams have changed from Gianvitto Rossi Bow-Tie Ankle Heels to everything Manhattan Toy Company related.

Jesse and I think a lot about how we want to raise Lillian and one of the important things we have agreed upon is that she is financially savvy. So, in the hopes of raising our daughter with this knowledge, something I acquired later in my professional career, I have taken a step back and reevaluated what is more important: belonging or belongings and want to make a change.

If you are interested in joining me for a "Belonging October" in which we focus on family, friendships, community and others, please let me know!! I will be abstaining from purchasing anything that can be found at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, ShopBop, J.Crew, etc.
