PERFECT PUBLIC ART.
Happy Sunday! Today we woke up and headed down to City Hall to see the art installation Intrude by Australian artist Amanda Parer. The bunnies are 23' tall and are fun for all ages. The message behind Parer's piece is to bring attention to the ecological impact humans can have on the environment. In her native Australia, rabbits were introduced by settlers and have since wrecked havoc on the ecological system.
One of my favorite art history classes I took for my minor at USD was 'Art in Public Space' and I am sure this piece will be part of their curriculum! I bet you didn't know that being a large scale artist for public spaces has always been one of my dreams. Two of my favorite artists in this space include Jeff Koons and Claes Oldenburg.
If you have a chance to check them out, I suggest you do!
I hope you are enjoying your Sunday!
Ps- We always have shoes on Lillian but she pulls them off! Don't worry, I'm not letting her footies get cold though!
