Happy Birthday to my main squeeze, Jesse! I'll keep this short and sweet for a couple of reasons- Jesse doesn't like being celebrated (especially publicly) and also because some study once said that the more you post about your significant other means that you have a terrible relationship or something like that..yada...yada..yada. While Jesse doesn't always make it onto the blog, he is always on my mind and in my heart when I am writing, having new opportunities personally, but especially professionally.

Jesse is an incredibly special person. But the funny thing about that is that he has always been incredibly special and talented and different than others, in the best way possible. From stories I've heard from Jesse's family and friends, his interests were authentic even when they weren't popular. He has always loved computers, Star Wars, sci-fi, and nerdy things even before they were cool. I'm so happy for him that his life-long passions and talents are really respected in his profession and world of Silicon Valley and tech. I guess he's been playing the long game since second grade :)

Jesse's birthday has always been special because it signals the kick-off to a bunch of celebrations- summer travels, our engagement anniversary, wedding anniversary, and Lillian's birthday. This year we will celebrate five years of marriage and I can honestly say that I love and appreciate Jesse more today than I did on our wedding day. The last five years have been such significant years for us and I am so proud of how much we have grown.

Jesse has a long list of attributes that I admire but what I love the most about him is how knowledgeable he is and how much I learn from him every day. My absolute favorite time spent with him is driving in the car when we just get to chat. I am at my happiest when we are driving with Lillian and the three of us are talking and just sharing what's on our mind.

While I dreamed of planning a big vacation for us for Jesse's birthday, it's not going to happen this year. I've mentioned it before but since Jesse is busy with work, but the good kind of busy-- like can't wait to wake up at 6:00am every day and head to the gym and then head to work and then work all night type of busy-- we don't really have the option to take vacations longer than a few days and we're definitely not leaving the country soon-- unless they open an office in London, which I am really pushing for-- Perfect 10 London- I mean, can you even handle it?! (Wait, this is not about me, right? Right.) And honestly, this is okay with me. But one thing I can't wait to do with my husband is travel around the world together--one day.

Throughout the course of the week and sometimes a few times a day I think to myself, "how did I get so lucky?" After I've just cleaned the house, or am pulling into the garage, or am snuggling Jesse in bed, or laughing with Lillian I just think about how grateful I am for the life Jesse and I have created together. I will even say to Lillian, "how did I get so lucky? you are the absolute best" and she'll say something "hello, mama!!!".

My birthday wish for Jesse is that gets to see the new Fast n' Furious movie. Ha! But also that he has a year full of success in his professional endeavors and that he knows how much Lillian and I love him.

Happy Birthday, Jesse!
