Family adventures in Palm Springs

Today is a holiday, so hopefully, you're in bed watching The Crown and scrolling through social media, just relaxing. Jesse is at work and Lillian is napping, so I thought I would share a quick note about our trip to Palm Springs.

When we were in Palm Springs this year, we decided that this is our new tradition- taking a family getaway the day after Christmas. Last year we went to Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara and had an absolutely amazing, and quite picturesque, vacation. Bacara was recently purchased by the Ritz Carlton group and is going through some changes and they said it would be better to visit in the spring once they have everything running how they want it to.

We jokingly called this vacation Trollstice and it stuck. One of the funny things about being a parent is how much fun it is to enjoy the entertainment meant for kids. If you haven't seen Trolls, you need to! It's essentially Pitch Perfect for kids.

For Trollstice 2017, we decided to head farther south to get a little bit more sun. After weighing our options, we settled on Palm Springs. Mostly because we couldn't stomach the price of flights and hotels in Hawaii during this time. Especially when the flights to Hawaii are so inexpensive in the spring.

I had been to Palm Springs a handful of times over the years for girls trips, bachelorette parties, and a family vacation. I've stayed in condos, houses, and The Saguaro when it first opened. It's amazing how much Palm Springs has changed in the last fifteen years because of Coachella. Like always, it's the get-out-of-town location for LA residents, but the aesthetic has changed so much.

When searching for a hotel, regardless of the city, I usually pick the area I want to stay in, then I go to Google maps and search for hotels nearby and filter by star rating. For this trip, my one requirement was that we had a HUGE pool. After being disappointed by the pool sizes in Palm Springs proper, I kept widening my search and that is how I found Omni Resorts in Rancho Las Palmas. We loved this hotel so much and I can't wait to share more about the hotel in a more in-depth post. It was seriously amazing!!

I wanted to share some pictures from our trip! We visited #thatpinkdoor, ate at Kings Highway Diner at the Ace hotel, saw Pitch Perfect 3, went swimming all day, and had a blast. It was the perfect way to close out a hectic 2017. If you are looking for an easy, fun family getaway, I suggest you check out Palm Springs!
