Pregnancy Update: 29 Weeks.
Happy Monday! So excited to report that I am 29 weeks and feeling great! Last week I felt like I went to hell and back! Browch! Honestly, my worst week of pregnancy and I am glad its over (knock on wood!). Last Monday I had my doctors appointment and was feeling pretty good and asked the doctor about a little discomfort I was having and she said it was normal. Well, on Tuesday morning I woke up and could not walk! I was in soooo much pain in my pelvis! It was particularly frustrating because I could not figure out exactly what it was. Until...I found in a Google Search, "does it feel like you've been hit by a baseball bat?!" and I was like YES, THAT'S EXACTLY IT! Well, it was my pelvis moving because of my hormones relaxing. It was so painful!!
I researched as much as I could and everything said to keep your pelvis aligned as much as possible- getting in and out of the car, standing up, and sitting. The worst thing you can do is sit with legs crossed. I was having such a hard time taking steps, it truly felt so painful. I prayed and prayed for relief, iced, stretched, did core exercises, slept with a pillow between my legs, and took Tylenol. I honestly thought if I had this pain for 12 more weeks I wasn't quite sure how I was going to last.
Someone (who won't be mentioned) told me it was because I had such easy pregnancies and this was teaching me a lesson! Basically, karma. Luckily, it lasted only a few days because I could really tell a difference in my mood- I was not my usual bubbly self. I just kept saying that this will pass. It gave me a teeny, tiny glimpse into what people with chronic pain feel. It just robs you of your spirit. And I absolutely HATED that I couldn't play as physically with Lillian. I felt like I couldn't even keep up with her and that scared me since she is such an active, wild child!
I was also distraught because we had a wedding this past weekend and I didn't want to be out of commission. Luckily, the pain got better, Tylenol helped, swimming, and honestly, lots of prayers!!! Don't underestimate the power of prayer!
We spent the weekend in Eugene, Oregon at our friends' wedding and had an absolute blast. I think that's the first time and I have been away from Lillian where we flew somewhere together. A few weeks ago we were both gone for bachelor and bachelorette parties, but this time it was really fun to get away. Jesse and I were so relaxed, went in the hotel's pool and hot tub, took our time through meals, and just had a really restful time together and then a blast dancing and playing at the wedding.
My body is definitely feeling relaxed because I was laughing when we were playing SpikeBall with our friends and Jesse did a jump serve and I laughed so hard that I started to pee my pants. I have no bladder control! My dress even got soaked! hahahah I was laughing about it and thankfully, I was able to rinse of my dress in the bathroom and since it was in the 90s, my dress dried pretty much right away!!! LOL!
One of the things that I think you need in life, but definitely during pregnancy, is a sense of humor. I think the reason why I've been able to enjoy pregnancy and parenthood is because I just laugh at all of these things. I could have cried and left the wedding, but I had to carry on!!!!
I love this rare picture of Jesse and me!! One of us is usually behind the camera so it was so nice to get a photo of the two of us!!
29 Weeks Update
Baby Girl is the size of: An acorn squash. She measures about 15.2 inches long and weighs about 2.5 pounds! I love it!!! Grow, baby girl, grow!! I love that she is getting bigger!!
Weight Gain: 20 lbs
Common Symptoms (from The Bump App)
Headaches and/or lightheadedness. You can get a headache or feel out of sorts if you’re sleep deprived. (We know it’s probably been tough to get a restful night of sleep!) But it could be from low blood sugar too, so make sure you're eating at regular intervals. No, so grateful I haven't had this. I definitely had a lot more headaches last time. I really haven't had any this time. Knock on wood.
Itchy belly. Your skin is stretching thinner, making it more sensitive. Lotion up and drink lots of water! Let your doctor know about any intense itches or a rash. Nope. Thankfully! Last time my back and skin was just so dry and itchy!
Back, leg, or hip pain. Some soreness is totally par for the course. Your body’s carrying around extra weight all day at 29 weeks pregnant, and depending on baby’s position, he or she is putting pressure on anything and everything. (Even more so if you’re 29 weeks pregnant with twins!) Plus, your joints and ligaments are getting softer and more relaxed in preparation for delivery. All of that pressure can cause aches and pains all over. YES! See above.
Hemorrhoids. Baby's putting pressure on your digestive system too, and those pesky hormones may be relaxing your intestinal muscles, causing uncomfortable hemorrhoids. Combat them by eating plenty of fiber—think leafy veggies—and drinking lots of water. Nope.
Constipation. This isn't really helping the hemorrhoid situation, is it? The fiber and water will help here as well. Nope.
Trouble sleeping. Don’t overdo it with caffeine, drink lots of water, and get some light exercise. We’re big fans of prenatal yoga and brisk walks around the neighborhood (or the mall!). Nope. Having a toddler keeps me busy and ready for bed!
Frequent urination. Gotta pee… again?! The more your uterus expands, the more you'll probably have to hit the restroom. This doesn’t mean cut down on drinking water. ICYMI, proper hydration is important for easing many 29 weeks pregnancy symptoms; it’s also important for preventing preterm labor. (You’re at higher risk for preterm labor if you have a pregnancy complication or if you’re 29 weeks pregnant with twins.) UMMM...YES! All the time.
Lillian Update: After a weekend away from each other we were so excited to be reunited! She had a great weekend with my parents and her cousins and was definitely exhausted! She is starting the next class at preschool and we are so excited for her! She loves wearing pink pants, is still obsessed with her Baby Bear, and is excited to be a big sister!
