Pregnancy Update: 31 Weeks.
I am so excited to be sharing this weeks update because 31 is my lucky number!! August is off to a great start and to me, it feels like the real joy of summer can always be found in August. There is the definite feeling of fun-urgency, meaning, everyone wants to squeeze as much fun out of the days as possible before it's back to school and back to the grind. There are more spontaneous adventures, late nights, and memories created. Also, at the end of the month is my 33rd birthday! So I am definitely counting down to that!
This week I am really getting started on putting Baby Girl's nursery together and I could not be more excited! Right now the room is being used at my office, so I am very excited to swap the shelves full of inventory for the crib and get the space up and running!! We are going with blue, white, and grey- so funny how different for this baby than with Lillian, who was grey and red but as soon as she was born everything was pink!!
I have been feeling really great-- did you see last week's post I wrote about Every Mother? You have to check it out because that is what has been keeping me feeling so great this pregnancy. You can use code BUNDLEJOY for 10% off your Every Mother membership! Such a great deal!
Over the weekend I definitely had an 'oh boy' moment. This baby is going to be here so soon and I still feel like I have so much to do to prepare. One of the things about me is I like to do a lot of prep work so that I can set myself up for success. Before I go anywhere new, from dinner to a wedding venue to a show, I always research so I know what to expect. I haven't done any mental prep for the labor and I really want to and need to. Each labor is so different and while many second-time moms feel so confident the second time around, I am feeling (if I am being totally honest) unprepared, which makes me feel nervous. I am very, very excited and looking forward to labor but I just feel like I have a lot I want to do in advance. People who read this blog and these updates probably think I am a total lunatic- and you're right. I am.
I also have been thinking that this labor might be like the time I got my ears pierced in 5th grade. I was so nervous and worried it would hurt so much and when the nice teenager at Claire's at Stonestown shot my ear with the gun I thought to myself, "that wasn't so bad" and then when she was about to pierce the second one I was thinking, "this will be a piece of cake" and then she shot the earring gun in my ear and it hurt more than the first one!!!! I look back very fondly and proudly on my first labor but I don't want to psych myself out and think that this labor will be easy or not hurt at all. I want to prepare for the pain!!!
I want to be prepared for the logistics of this labor because things are so different having Lillian. Luckily, my family is all close by and will be able to help. I just said to Jesse that I need to not have Lillian see me in pain. So hopefully we can have her sleep over at my parents when I feel like I am going into labor.
I have thought a lot about the logistics about having two children and getting Lillian to school and to all of her activities and maintaining some sort of schedule while trying to nurse and take care of a newborn. It's going to be totally chaotic and I am really looking forward to it!!!!!! But I don't want to get too ahead of myself, gots to think about the labor first! I am just praying and praying for a natural, fast, safe delivery.
Although I am 31 weeks, I have been mentally preparing myself that this darling baby girl could come anytime over a wide range- I feel like the earliest would be late September and the latest could be late October!!! Such a wide time period to prepare for!
With the countdown getting serious, I have vowed to not buy any more maternity clothes for this pregnancy. The only maternity things I bought this pregnancy were a tank top and white J.Crew jeans. I am just so close that I won't to buy anything, but we will see if that changes. The other day I saw the most darling pregnant woman and she looked so cute in her maternity pants and top and statement necklace. And I started talking to her but of course I knew that she was a first time mom. I remember when I used to look good! LOL. This black dress I am wearing from Stowaway Collection is maternity and oh, so comfortable. It feels like a nightgown or something. It is stretchy cotton but with the detail around the bottom it feels a little bit more dressy. You can check out Stowaway Collection here.
31 weeks update
Baby is the size of: Asparagus! Baby Girl is about 16.2 inches long and weighs about 3.3 pounds. That's the average that The Bump says but I have a feeling this girl is a little bigger because your second is always bigger!
Weight Gain: 23 lbs
Cravings: Salmon!! What the heck?! I am totally surprised as well! But I have been loving the salmon sandwich from La Boulange. I think that last time I had that was years ago!!! I also have been not wanting my usual favorite breakfast things- yogurt or eggs. So I've been having toast or bagels.
Goals for the next couple of weeks: Read about labor, get the nursery organized, spend time with Jesse and Lillian.
Looking forward to: I love taking Lillian to swimming lessons each week. It's definitely been a fun activity for us to do together. Most nights Jesse will come meet us at the pool and we'll all swim together after class. It's so fun! Also, can't wait for our friends' wedding this weekend- hopefully I won't pee my pants!
Lillian Update: Lillian has been amazing and I love watching her grow. We know she is going to be the best big sister because she loves her baby cousin Luca so much (meet my nephew Luca here).
Thankful for: SOOOOOOOO incredibly thankful for the fact that I physically feel so much better! After having a few really painful days, it is so nice to have my pelvis feeling better!!!!
